Why does Morven Christie leave the bay?
The second series ended with Lisa Amrstrong seemingly at peace – she’s back on top at work, kicking her not-good ex to the curb.
The news that the character had been replaced came as a shock to many who expected Morven to return as Lisa in the third series.
However, ITV informed us that Morven Christie had made the decision to leave the show.
Morven has not disclosed her reasons despite pointing out issues behind the scenes.
On February 10, after the devastating death of Lisa’s colleague Med, actress Morven posted a cryptic message on her official Instagram page.
Morven shared a picture of actor Taheen Modak as Med and wrote, “The first day to the end. It’s a great honor to have spent my two seasons at The Bay with this guy, from fresh out of college to smashed like an old pro.
“My partner, my buddy, that big, soulful little king.
“They should never have let you go, but that’s for another day. Now you can build your kingdom – and I’ll be right behind you buddy. We made it. @taheenmodak. “
Who will replace them?
Manchester actress Marsha Thomason will appear as the new star in Bay’s third series.
The broadcaster released details of the new series and announced that Cobra star Marsha would join the cast as DS Jenn Townsend, Morecambe CID’s new Family Liaison Officer.
She will replace Morven Christie’s DS Lisa Armstrong.
DS Townsend is at the end of the bay after discovering a dead body.
It’s her first day at work. And she needs to get under the skin of a grieving family to investigate the death of an aspiring boxer.
She strives to provide answers for the family but also has to prove herself to be the newest addition to the team.
Jenn is also under additional pressure in her personal life as her own family struggles to settle in Morecambe.
ITV Director of Drama, Polly Hill, said, “We are delighted with the audience response to The Bay. [We] I look forward to meeting DS Jenn Townsend, played by the amazing Marsha Thomason, who will join the team in Series 3. “
Catherine Oldfield, Executive Producer, commented, “Daragh and I couldn’t be happier with the audience response to The Bay.
“ITV has put the show back on its feet and it’s exciting to have someone as intelligent and brilliant as Marsha to lead the new series.”
She added, “We can’t wait to return to Morecambe to start filming.”

Will there be another series of The A Word?
The BBC has not yet confirmed whether there will be a fourth series of The A Word.
Morven portrays Alison Hughes in all episodes of the drama, which began in 2016.
The popular series centers on an autistic boy named Joe (played by Max Venton) and his family who are looking for ways to deal with the disease while finding a sense of normalcy.
At the start of the third series, 10-year-old Joe finished his parents’ separation and lived in two places at the same time.
At the end of the series, things came together when Rebecca safely gave birth to her baby girl (named after her grandmother). Alison and Paul shared a touching moment in the hospital, admitting their respective new relationships hadn’t worked out.
