And judging by his IMDB profile and recent interviews, he’s staying calm about his upcoming projects.
Recently, however, he came up with the idea of a Doctor Who universe – similar to Marvel’s.
The former Doctor Who showrunner briefed a journalist who was responsible for the Radio times that there should even be an entire television channel dedicated to the franchise.

Russell said, “There should be a Doctor Who channel now.
“You watch these Disney announcements, from all these new Star Wars and Marvel shows, you think we should sit here and announce the Nyssa adventures or the return of Donna Noble, and you should be the 10th and 11th Doctor in a ten together have part series. Really.”
There have been two successful Doctor Who spin-offs during Russell’s tenure as showrunner – Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.
The last spin-off was Class in 2016 but was canceled after a series.
Additionally, he recently told Krishnan Guru that he believes the COVID-19 pandemic will spur many movies and TV series in the years to come.
He said, “People were not allowed to be with their dying relatives.
“This anger – it’s going to be a story. Literally for future generations. “

Russell recently said he has no regrets about stepping down from work at the BBC.
In fact, he said he feared the Beeb would soon be left behind in the current golden age of television drama.
While speaking to Gaby Roslin on her podcast, he said that the BBC was on its way to extinction – “right now ahead of us”.
And that after streaming giants like Netflix ‘great success, there was little chance of survival.
His comments come in despite sharing his contempt for the government that cut BBC funding last year.

He stated, “There has been this great release of memories and joy. It was bottled because the deaths were so terrible.
“It’s a cruel disease, opportunistic and mean. Sometimes the deaths were so terrible that silence fell over us. “
While he was telling this Hollywood Reporter that he purposely designed each character to have moments of fun and hope.
He stated, “I think many of these premature lives have been remembered with a lot of stigma, shame and embarrassment, and with respectful silence.
“But I just wanted to show them how they live their lives and have a great time.”
