BBC2’s Gardeners’ World viewers will miss Monty Don tonight (June 4th) as he takes a break from hosting this week’s show.
Familiar faces Arit Anderson and Frances Tophill will take Monty’s place instead.
Monty, 65, has been the main host of Gardeners’ World since 2003 when he replaced Alan Titchmarsh.
Monty and his dogs, the golden retriever Nell and the Yorkshire terrier Patti, are the favorites of the green fingered viewers.
Fans of the show will also remember his tribute to his beloved golden retriever, Nigel, who passed away in May 2020.
Why isn’t Monty Don in Gardeners’ World tonight?
Monty has not given a reason for his absence from the show tonight.
His tweets suggest he’ll be back next week when he shared a picture from filming on May 31st. In response to a fan, he wrote: “We are filming a week before the broadcast.”

Back in April, Monty took a break from the show to record his book My Garden World as an audiobook.

At that time, the presenter and landscape designer Adam Frost took his place.
Who is Arit Anderson?
Arit is an award-winning garden designer and author.
The 55-year-old comes from Isleworth in south-west London.
A creative with an eye for design, she worked in the fashion industry for 25 years before studying gardening at Capel Manor College.

Arit’s gardening career began to blossom when she won the 2013 Fresh Talent Award at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Arit was a regular at Garden Rescue with Charlie Dimmock as well as Gardeners’ World. She regularly posts stunning pictures of gardens on her Instagram page.

Arit is married to husband Scott and has two stepchildren – Harvey and Freya.
Her stepchildren starred in an episode of Gardeners’ World where it was clear they shared Arit’s love for the outdoors.
Freya, 14, said she grows potatoes, onions and cucumbers.
Who is Frances Tophill?
Frances has appeared in Gardeners’ World since 2016. She has a passion for getting more young people interested in gardening and has written four books.
Frances was born in Deal, Kent and now lives in Exeter. She has also made appearances on ITV’s Love Your Garden with Alan Titchmarsh.
Frances was a late bloomer when it came to her interest in gardening.
In an interview with One magazine, she said she applied for a gardening apprenticeship when she was 19, even though she had no gardening experience.
Luckily she got the job and has been gardening ever since.
In her Instagram Stories today, Frances shared Arit’s post about her hosting responsibilities, adding, “This is both terrifying and exciting.”
Gardeners’ World will air on BBC Two at 9pm tonight.
