Who is Kenneth Noye?
Kenneth Noye was born in Bexleyheath, London, where his father ran a post office and his mother ran a dog racing track.
His life as a criminal reportedly started early and he was caught shoplifting when he was five.
He left school at the age of 15 and spent a year in the Borstal juvenile detention center after selling stolen bicycles
He later married the legal secretary of his attorney Brenda Tremain.
Kenneth served as a police informant for many years after being arrested for receiving stolen goods.
Described as a vicious gangster, he built a legitimate transportation company to protect his illegal money laundering.
In 1985, Kenneth was acquitted of the murder of a police officer on the premises of his home.
Kenneth went to prison to launder a huge amount of stolen gold bars that six armed men took away during the Brink’s Mat robbery on November 26, 1983.
He was convicted in 1986 of handling stolen goods from the Brink’s Mat robbery and sentenced to eight years in prison with a 14-year prison term.
He was released from prison in 1994.
Kenneth murdered Stephen Cameron in May 1996 when he was released from prison under license.
What Killed Kenneth Stephen Cameron?
On May 19, 1996, Kenneth Noye was involved in an altercation with another motorist on an slip road on the M25 motorway near Swanley, Kent.
Kenneth killed Stephen Cameron, 21, during a traffic incident.
New driver Danielle – Stephen’s girlfriend – was behind the wheel of Stephen’s red Rascal van when it nearly collided with Kenneth’s Land Rover Discovery.
An angry Kenneth got out of his vehicle at the traffic light and hit Stephen 6 feet 4 in the eye.
After a fight, Kenneth went back to his car to grab a knife.
Kenneth stabbed the electrician Stephen twice, penetrated the heart and liver, and killed him almost instantly.
The killer fled the country immediately.
Stephen Cameron’s friend, Danielle Cable, witnessed the murder and helped the police with their investigation.
The police eventually located Kenneth and arrested him two years later in Spain.
Danielle clearly identified Kenneth and he was subsequently arrested.
Seven months later, he lost an appeal against his extradition from Spain and was finally extradited to the UK in May 1999, nine months after his arrest.
Kenneth was tried 10 months later and convicted of the crime four years later.
Did the street killer Kenneth go to jail?
Kenneth told the judge and the jury that he was not a violent man and had defended himself.
However, he was found guilty by the jury’s majority vote of 11-1 after their deliberations lasted more than eight hours.
Kenneth was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Stephen Cameron. Probation was set for 16 years.
He left behind Mrs. Brenda and her two sons Kevin and Brett.
Meanwhile, Danielle – who had courageously testified against Kenneth in court – was given a new identity as part of the witness protection program.
Alan Decabral was another eyewitness.
Refused protection, he was shot dead in his car in Ashford, Kent on October 5, 2000.
Where is Kenneth Noye now? How old is he?
In May 2019, the probation authority announced that Kenneth Noye was “eligible for return to the community”.
Two months later, on June 6, 2019, he was released from prison.
He was 72 at the time and had served in the M25 attack for 20 years.
Kenneth Noye is now 73 years old and was spotted in the same area where he killed Stephen.
In 2019, Kenneth is said to have “loved” a younger woman.
His estranged wife, Brenda, lives in Aylesford, Kent.
