The Great British Menu continues this week (Thursday 25 March 2021) on BBC Two. The renowned chef Lisa Goodwin-Allen completes the jury.

Great British Menu Lisa Goodwin-Allen: Who is she?
Lisa Goodwin-Allen is a British chef best known as the executive chef of the Michelin-starred Northcote restaurant.
She began her cooking career at the Holbeck Ghyll restaurant in Windermere, Cumbria.
At the same time, she completed a national professional qualification in gastronomy.
She also worked at Le Champignon Sauvage in Cheltenham and began working there permanently after completing her course.
Eventually she started working at Northcote and remains there to this day.
Lisa was also one of four winning chefs on season five of the BBC cooking show Great British Menu.
She was the only female chef in the competition and competed against local chefs Johnnie Mountain and Aiden Byrne.
Lisa became one of four chefs to cook at a banquet hosted by Prince Charles.
Her winning dish was a rabbit and leek turnover with piccalilli.
In 2011 she was named Restaurant Chef of the Year by the Craft Guild of Chefs.
She also appeared on the eighth series of MasterChef: The Professionals as a mentor to the semi-finalists.
Lisa appears regularly on Saturday Kitchen, Celebrity MasterChef, and Saturday Morning with James Martin and Snackmasters.
Which restaurant does she work in?
In 2001 Lisa started working for Northcote under Nigel Haworth as Demi Chef de Partie.
She was just 20!
Because of her talent, she was promoted to Chef de Partie after a year.
Over a three-year period, she was promoted to junior sous-chef, then to sous-chef, and finally, at the age of 23, was appointed head chef of the restaurant in 2004.
And she’s been there ever since, despite her severe allergy to shellfish!
The Northcote is located in a small luxury hotel in Lancashire.

In 2018 Lisa successfully retained the Michelin star in Northcote, held by Nigel Haworth since 1996.
He became the restaurant’s chief ambassador, leaving her as the head chef.
Is she married or single? Does she have children?
Outside of work, Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband, Steve Goodwin-Allen, whom she married in 2014.
The couple live in Clitheroe with their five-year-old boy, Teddy-Ray.

Lisa was born in Lancashire on April 29, 1981.
She is currently 39 years old.
Great British Menu Series 16, episode two
The second installment in Series 16 focuses on main and dessert courses.
Main courses include a venison dish honoring the only British woman to have won a Nobel Prize in Science and a tribute to West Midlands manufacturing.
Desserts include two layered chocolate dishes – one made with edible paper in homage to Samuel Johnson, the other with an ingenious chocolate cross-section of a road inspired by the invention of smooth asphalt.
