Who is Dylan’s mom and why did Violet leave?

Coronation Street viewers saw the return of Sean’s son Dylan in the episodes tonight (Monday January 18) after he was sent to Manchester by his mother Violet.

Dylan returned to Weatherfield with his father, Sean, last year. However, during today’s visit to Weatherfield, Sean announced to Nick that Violet would be taking Dylan to the cobblestones as he had been suspended from school.

Viewers haven’t seen Violet, however, this isn’t the first time she’s been mentioned in the past few months.

Why did Violet decide to leave Coronation Street?

Coronation Street: Who Is Dylan’s Mom Violet?

Dylan’s mother is Violet Wilson, who was on the cobblestones from 2004 to 2008. She was played by actress Jenny Platt.

Violet was a barmaid at Rovers Pub and made good friends with Sean Tully.

In 2007 Sean and Violet got drunk and the issue of children was brought up. They agreed that if neither of them had a child by the age of 30, they would have one together.

However, then they agreed to have a baby right away, and Violet became pregnant.

During her pregnancy, Violet wanted to raise the baby without Sean. However, when he found out, he threatened legal action.

Eventually, Violet reunited with her ex-boyfriend, Jamie, and in February 2008 she gave birth to a son who she named Dylan.

Why did Violet leave Weatherfield?

Jamie and Violet started living together, but they soon decided to move to London to raise Dylan. They planned this behind Sean’s back, but he soon found out the truth.

Although he tried to stop her, they went and cut off contact with Sean.

In 2011, Sean managed to get back in touch with Violet, and she reappeared in the Easter special when Sean visited her in London.

She allowed him to see his son, and Sean had been in touch over the years and visited him.

Dylan’s return

Dylan is played by Liam McCheyne. Liam previously played with his twin brother Connor Dylan between 2011 and 2012.

When the character returned last year, it was revealed that the teen would be returning more permanently.

On tonight’s episode, Dylan revealed to Sean that he was bullied at school because his father is gay.

Later, Sean will propose that his son come and live with him, which Dylan excites.

Problems soon arise, however, when Sean reminds Gemma that she has to give him his commission from the makeup sales.

Gemma later says she wants to get out of the pyramid makeup business and Sean wonders how we’re going to pay Rhydian. After a call to Rhydian, Sean Gemma says if she can’t find the money, they’ll both be sued.
