Actress Shannon Murray stars in a new episode of Dalgliesh on Channel 5 tonight (Thursday 11th November).
The brilliant Irish born actress, 45, is featured on the show in a wheelchair, but is she disabled in real life and how did she break new ground?

Who does Shannon Murray play in Dalgliesh?
In today’s episode of the thriller, Dalgliesh visits a home for the disabled after being invited by his old friend, Father Michael.
However, when he gets there, he discovers that his buddy died a few days earlier.

And when Dalgliesh learns that the provocative resident Victor rolled off a cliff in an apparent suicide recently, he wonders if his death might be linked to that of Father Michael.
In the two-part story, Shannon appears, who plays resident Ursula Hollis.
Where is Shannon from and where have you seen her before?
Shannon was born in Dublin and has had a varied career and has appeared in a number of top line dramas.
She played three different characters in Casualty and appeared in Holby City for two episodes in 2018.
Shannon also enjoyed a brief appearance on EastEnders that year, playing Sarah-Jane Spilsbury.
More recently, however, Shannon appeared in the ITV crime drama Viewpoint, starring alongside the disgraced Noel Clark as DC Hayley Jones.
Is Shannon Disabled In Real Life?
When she was 14 years old, Shannon went to Lanzarote with her family.
Tragically, the teenager was involved in a diving accident and was paralyzed from the waist down after breaking his neck.
She has been in a wheelchair ever since.
But since her accident, Shannon has broken down career barriers.
Shannon’s Briton first
In 1994 she won a modeling competition for disabled women and in 2010 she became the first disabled model to be featured in an advertising campaign on the main street.
Debenhams introduced them in his flagship store on Oxford Street in London.

Back then, 32, Shannon wrote on her blog at the time: “I’ve been modeling for over 14 years, but that was different.
“It’s a premiere and when I was getting ready with the hair and make-up, I suddenly noticed the potential of this shoot – another small step towards inclusion and representation.
“I hope the images challenge some misunderstandings about disability; it was foreseeable for a long time. “
Dalgliesh will continue on Channel 5 this evening (Thursday November 11) at 9 p.m.
