Who is Nicola Walker?
Nicola is a ridiculously personable actress from Stepney, London.
She has been on our screens – television and film – since 1994 when she appeared as an extra in Four Weddings and a Funeral!
Far from being on the sidelines now, she has become one of the hottest TV actresses of the moment.
TV viewers love her in The Split, Last Tango in Halifax, and Unforgotten.
Who does she play in the Unforgotten?
Nicola portrays DCI Cassie Stuart in Unforgotten, one half of a double act opposite Sanjeev Bhaskar’s DS Sunil ‘Sunny’ Khan.
Together with their team, the two investigate decades-old murders and put together events that happened many years ago to bring justice and closure to the victim and his loved ones.
According to Nicola, the uncertainty of 2020 helped create the right atmosphere to bring DCI Cassie Stuart back to the fourth series of Unforgotten.
She explains, “The return to the role in January (2020) was so exciting this year because of the plot and suspects that it is very timely.”
“When we left Cassie at the end of the last series, she felt it was necessary to quit, she was definitely having what could easily be called a ‘breakdown’ and we wondered if she would be back.
“When we meet her on this show, you can tell that she doesn’t really want to come back, but she’s in a terrible position that if she doesn’t come back she will lose a massive portion of her pension due to technical reasons.
“It is terrible that she is in a complete trap and that she is willing to return so she can get the full amount of her pension because her father is getting sicker and she considers the fact that she is likely to be financially responsible will for the care of her father.
“So she’s completely caught. She has devoted her entire career to the police. She is angry and feels very betrayed and that’s how she goes down in the history of this series. “
