Criminal Delroy Grant: who is he?
Delroy Easton Grant, now 64, is a convicted serial rapist from Jamaica.
The police also called him the Minstead Rapist and also the Night Stalker.
In 1998, the Metropolitan Police launched the Operation Minstead team to investigate the crimes.
At the time, the operation was the largest rape investigation ever conducted by the Metropolitan Police.
How many victims?
The depraved rapist Delroy Grant has carried out around 600 attacks in south-east London over a period of 17 years.
In the early 1990s, he began breaking into his old people’s homes in the middle of the night.
He attacked women between the ages of 68 and 93 and even targeted 10 men.
A 93-year-old victim, the visually impaired Cynthia Stephens, died three months later.
Her family said she had “lost the will to live”.
Many of Delroy Grant’s victims were already in poor health or suffered from mental illness.
One woman with osteoarthritis had such severe injuries to her waist and hip that she needed major surgery.
The police suspect that the number of his victims is closer to 600.

What was Delroy Grant MO?
The rapist Delroy Grant broke into his victims’ homes by breaking a window or removing a pane of glass, wearing a balaclava and gloves.
He turned off the electricity and disconnected the phone lines before committing horrific acts of violence.
The victims recounted how the Manhunt monster Delroy Grant spoke quietly to them and even kissed them gently.
Your utter depravity knows no bounds.
Occasionally he even went away without attacking her and often stole belongings.
Profilers believed that despite his sexual obsession with the elderly, he was ashamed of his actions.
Delroy Grant even apologized to one victim, telling her, “I’m sorry. I will never do that again. “
Manhunt Delroy Grant: how was he caught?
In 1998 the police set up their own unit to catch the monster behind the rapes, robberies and break-ins.
DCI Simon Morgan led the investigation, code named Operation Minstead.
A series of police mistakes in 1999 resulted in Delroy Grant evading capture for another decade and assaulting around 140 other people.
As the investigation continued to show loopholes, the Night Stalker returned with a vengeance in May 2008.
Over the next 16 months, the total number of his known crimes nearly doubled.
He was finally on camera in August 2009 after breaking into an 88-year-old Pole at Thornton Heath.
He used the victim’s debit card at an ATM but entered the wrong PIN.
Two months later, he used the same ATM after an elderly woman broke in.
In October 2009, the MET flooded Shirley in south London, one of the Night Stalker’s favorite areas, with 70 undercover officers.
Police finally arrested Delroy Grant when he committed another break-in in the early hours of November 15, 2009.
When they searched his Vauxhall Zafira, they found the Night Stalker’s rape kit – a gray balaclava, blue kagole, gray fleece, and crowbar.
Many who knew him were shocked and described him as a loving family man.
Where’s Delroy Grant now?
In March 2011, a jury found Delroy Grant guilty of all counts, including four rapes and seven indecent assaults from 1992.
The judge sentenced him to four life sentences and sentenced him to at least 27 years in prison.
Judge Peter Rook QC told him, “Your utter depravity knows no bounds.”
Delroy Grant is imprisoned at HM Prison Belmarsh.
When is Manhunt: The Night Stalker on TV?
Viewers can watch Martin Clunes repeat his Manhunt role as DCI Sutton on Monday, September 20, 2021.
Silent Witness writer Ed Whitmore wrote Manhunt 2: The Night Stalker – who also wrote the first series.
Executive Producer Philippa Braithwaite said, “We are delighted that ITV has given us the opportunity to dramatize yet another important case involving Colin Sutton.
“This investigation has a very different focus than the Bellfield case.
“The victims were elderly and the crimes had not been solved for many years.
“The drama examines how Colin was late for the investigation and helped resolve it within weeks by taking an incredibly dangerous serial rapist off the street.”
Manhunt The Night Stalker starts on Monday, September 2021 at 9 p.m. on ITV1.
