But who plays Simon and what do we know about the actor and the character?
Who is Simon Barlow on Coronation Street?
Simon Barlow is the biological son of Peter Barlow and Peter’s second wife, Lucy Richards, also known as Lucy Barlow.
Simon was born on July 6, 2003 and is currently 17 years old.
In 2008, when Simon was 5 years old, Lucy died off-screen of breast cancer. Peter returned to Weatherfield with his son.
Peter eventually began a relationship with Leanne Battersby, who became a mother figure to Simon. Although Peter and Leanne are no longer together, Simon still lives with her and calls her “mother”.
Simon has been through a lot over the years, dealing with the loss of his mother, grandmother Dierdre, and his father’s alcohol addiction.
As a young teenager, he even struggled with anger problems and began to physically abuse Leanne.
However, in his latest story, Simon will sell drugs to help fund Leanne while she mourns her late son, Oliver.
Who plays Simon Barlow on Coronation Street?
Simon Barlow is currently played by Alex Bain.
In 2003, when the character was a baby, Simon was played by Daniel Whelan and twins Jake and Oscar Hartley.

When Simon returned to the cobblestones in 2008, Alex had taken on the role and played him for the past 12 years.
In real life, Alex is 19 years old.

Alex became a father in December 2018 at the age of 17 when his girlfriend at the time, Levi Selby, gave birth to a daughter.
They named their little girl Lydia-Rose.
It was later reported that Alex and Levi had split up. Alex is currently dating a dancer named Mollie.
Opening up about his sanity
Alex recently reported on his battle with mental health.
Speaking of his past, he told Entertainment Daily and other media outlets, “I went through some tough times in school, even from elementary school because I was the only male dancer.
“Especially when I was in elementary school, kids can be terrible. You can honestly be terrible.
“I’ve never seen it as bullying, but it’s this naive lack of awareness, especially as a kid.”
Sharing his experience of confronting his mental health, Alex said, “I am struggling with mental health – I am open to it. I talk about it all the time.
“But I’ve been through some dark times and I think if I hadn’t stayed at the job I’m in now, I would have been lost. Corrie kept me going. “
Talking about Lydia and Mollie helped him
In addition to the soap, Alex also credits his family for keeping him going, including Lydia and Mollie.
He added, “My family kept me going and having a daughter who keeps me going gives me something to do. I
“I have a wonderful girlfriend, her name is Mollie and she was always there for me because she also has problems, she is also a performer.

“My family was great and always looked after me. They just said, “You go on your own trail, don’t listen to what people say because they are the people who are jealous of what you have.”
“It’s been a struggle over the years but I think I’m on the rise now.”
