Who replaced him on The One Show? What’s his new show?

Matt Baker stunned The One Show viewers in December 2019 when he announced he was leaving.

Now, over a year later, The One Show continues to broadcast under lockdown conditions.

So who replaced Matt? And what is he up to these days?

Who replaced Matt Baker on The One Show?

An official replacement for Matt Baker has yet to be confirmed on The One Show.

However, his former co-host Alex Jones has taken over the helm.

She is now a regular co-host with various other media personalities, including Gethin Jones.

But Gethin Jones is now moderating alongside Kym Marsh on Morning Live.

Other stars like Rylan Clark-Neal and Chris Ramsey have filled his boots.

The BBC said in a statement that they have no plans to find a permanent replacement for Matt.

They said: “We are using our existing host family – consisting of men and women – to present with Alex Jones.”

Why did Matt Baker leave the One Show?

Matt said he was leaving The One Show to spend more time with his family.

He’s been a regular and hugely popular presenter on the show for nine years.

His live announcement included, “I loved that The One Show has been such a big part of my life for the past nine years.

“It was great to showcase the eclectic mix of Britain, meet amazing people along the way and see how so many lives have changed with the annual Rickshaw Challenge for Children in Need.

“I’d like to thank everyone I’ve worked with over the years, and especially you, the viewer, for showing me so much support during my time on the green sofa.”

The father of two added, “I look forward to having dinner with my family and putting my children to bed.”

Is Matt Baker still on Countryfile?

Matt hasn’t left BBC’s country file.

He still regularly presents episodes and has been a part since 2009.

When he announced his departure from The One Show, he confirmed: “I will continue with Countryfile and BBC Sport and look forward to other opportunities that are presented to me.”

Does Matt Baker have a new show?

But he also put out his own show.

In February, Matt announced that his family would be starring on their own show.

The series will focus on her idyllic life on her farm.

On Instagram he said: “Welcome to Our Farm In The Dales. Big news – I was shooting a series with all of our animals and family on our Durham farm! It was brilliant.

“I can’t wait for you all to see the place I grew up in. It was great fun as I also produced and directed it. I’ll keep you posted, but it comes as heads-up soon to More4. “

This will be a big departure from the BBC for Matt as More4 is on Channel 4.

Matt currently lives on a farm in Hertfordshire but also has a family run farm in Durham.
