Who tells about Devon and Cornwall? One of our favorite TV detectives

Devon and Cornwall continues on Channel 4 this week and viewers have a burning question – who is the spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall TV?

The second visit to this series, the narrator tells softer stories about life in the West Country.

So who is the narrator and how do you recognize his voice?

Devon and Cornwall TV Storyteller – Who is this?

Devon and Cornwall returned with a brand new series last week, and many viewers wondered who was telling the story.

In fact, the narrator of the Channel 4 travel show is none other than John Nettles!

John has voiced the series since 2020.

He took on the role of spokesman for the television program C4, a sister program of the program The Yorkshire Dales and the Lakes of the station.

Now it’s the fourth series.

Where does Devon and Cornwall TV spokesperson John Nettles come from?

John Nettles was born in St Austell, Cornwall, in 1943.

His birth mother was an Irish nurse who came to Britain during World War II.

John was adopted at birth by carpenter Eric Nettles and his wife Elsie.

So John is best able to tell the travel documentation.

St Austell is a town in Cornwall, 10 miles south of Bodmin and 30 miles west of the Devonian border.

St Austell is one of the largest cities in Cornwall.

John now lives on a farm in North Devon.

What is John Nettles famous for?

John Nettles has been on our television screens since 1969 when he appeared as John Franklin on The Expert.

Since then, he has appeared on dozens of television shows, including The Detectives, The Liver Birds, and A Family at War.

Of course, John is best known for two special – very iconic – roles.

John portrayed Jim Bergerac for a decade.

From 1981 to 1991, the actor played the alcoholic and divorced father of a young daughter, DS Jim Bergerac.

As a real loner, he preferred to do it his own way and therefore did not always conduct his investigations the way his boss wanted.

The famous series was shot in Jersey.

From 1997 to 2011, John DCI played Tom Barnaby in Midsomer Murders.

This time he played veteran Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby, who with his young sergeant investigated murders in the Midsomer County area.

John, now 77, has not been on screen since 2017 when he played Ray Penvenen in Poldark.

The actor also narrated My Unique B&B, Airport and The Tourist Trap, among others.

Devon and Cornwall on C4 – Series Four, Series Two

The counties of Devon and Cornwall attract millions of visitors every year …

In series four, episode two, wheelwright Greg and his team are restoring a Victorian bicycle.

Meanwhile, Terry and Brenda are racing to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Fowey River-class sailing dinghies.

The artisanal brewer and winemaker Simon searches the grounds of Torbay’s most historic building for ingredients for his next creation.

Stonemason John is also working on one of Cornwall’s most unique landmarks.

Devon and Cornwall will resume on Channel 4 on Monday 28 June 2021 at 8 p.m.
