Why was Piers Morgan fired from the Daily Mirror?
Piers was fired from his role at the Daily Mirror in 2004.
Here he had served as editor for a decade.

He was let go over published photos depicting British soldiers abusing an Iraqi prisoner.
However, these photos were later labeled as fake.
The newspaper said in a statement: “The Daily Mirror published in good faith photos which it absolutely believed were real pictures of British soldiers abusing an Iraqi prisoner.
“However, there is now sufficient evidence that these images are counterfeit.
“And that the Daily Mirror was the subject of a calculated and malicious joke.”

The statement continued, “The Trinity Mirror Board of Directors has determined that it would be inappropriate for Piers Morgan to continue in his role as editor of the Daily Mirror.
“He will therefore resign with immediate effect.”
This was followed on the front page of the newspaper: “Sorry, we have been betrayed.”
What did Piers say about being released from the mirror?
Piers said he was fired for refusing to apologize for posting the photos.
He said the photos had been carefully examined by experts, including the Department of Defense, who did not question their validity.
Speak with Politico American investors were also concerned in 2013, according to Piers.
The former editor said, “I was fired because American investors in Trinity Mirror put pressure on management. They got nervous about the impact on the company’s reputation and stock price, and so on.
He added, “And I refused to apologize or accept that we had necessarily been betrayed.”
Was Piers involved in phone hacking?
Piers has repeatedly denied that he was involved in the infamous phone hacking scandals that are linked to several British tabloids.
As a former editor of the Daily Mirror and News of the World, questions have been raised about his possible involvement.
He has been questioned at least twice by the UK police on the matter.
In 2011, he denied any knowledge of or involvement in suspected phone hacking while questioned in the Leveson investigation.
He said, “I would say that the average editor knows 5% of his journalists’ activities in a newspaper at any given time.
“But surely all journalists knew that they had to operate within the law. That was anchored in their employment contracts. “

Piers Morgan was in the first series of the US Celebrity Apprentice in 2008.
In fact, he was billed as a “notorious British tabloid editor” on the show.
He won the series and became famous as the enemy of Omarosa Newman.
